In this year’s innovation competition by ZIA Zentraler Immobilienausschuss e.V., Quartier Heidestrasse was recognised with a prize for its concept of development of mixed urban spaces as digital network within the innovation cluster „Intelligente Energieversorgung und Digitalisierung in vernetzten Quartieren“ (Intelligent Energy Supply and Digitalisation in Networked Quarters).
The 8.5 hectare, urban mixed Quartier Heidestrasse, the heart of the Berlin Europacity, believes in comprehensive digital networking of all areas of life. The aim: transformation of the Berlin „Kiez“ neighbourhood structure into a modern campus feeling. The base for this was a methodical analysis of the real needs of diverse target groups, followed by innovation competitions for each task area, by which the best qualitative and economical solution was determined using manufacturer and benefit analyses. A Europe-wide, unique process developed just for the Quartier Heidestrasse.
